Penciled In

mossimo by target_nine west_warby parkerRifling through the racks at Closet Connection, I could not help but notice this perfectly patterned pencil skirt. Crossing my fingers while in the fitting room I breathed a sigh of relief when I zipped it up and it fit like a glove. The best part was, I scored this skirt for $12! I love the versatility of this skirt. As pictured, I styled it to be office appropriate but can easily turn it into a more casual look by throwing on a chambray shirt and a pair of summer espadrille flats. I love items of clothing that can double for work and play; more bang for the buck.

Since this skirt has a bold colorful pattern, I decided to balance it with a black top and black pumps. As for my accessories, I love the way gold pops against black. I dug out this gold collar necklace that I picked up from a trunk show a few years ago. As always, I layered on my gold rings and chose a few bracelets to round out the outfit. Ditched my contacts and decided to go a bit geek-chic with my glasses.

Outfit Details:

T: Mossimo Supply Company by Target, $8. I tend to buy my basics at Target, Old Navy and Gap. Why spend a lot on items that constantly need to be replaced?

Pencil Skirt: Mossimo by Target. As previously mentioned, this was a great pick up from Closet Connection (consignment) for $12. I checked out Target and found a few pencil skirts to try: 1) Merona Pencil Skirt in a blue paisley print, $22.99, 2) Merona Pencil Skirt in aruba blue, $22.99 and 3) Mossimo Black and White Zig Zag refined skirt (my fave), $19.99.

Black Pumps: Nine West from Macy’s, $45.  Check out Piperlime for a great selection of black pumps under $50. As always, if you are a BR, Gap or ON card holder, you can save an additional 10% off every Tuesday!

Eyeglasses:  Warby Park, Clyde in Blue Marblewood, $95.  Buy a pair, they donate a pair.  Fashion with a cause, love it.

Collar Necklace: I have had this necklace for years. I am pretty sure that I did not pay more than $20 for it. For something similar, I found this gold classic linked necklace from Forever 21 for $12.80.

Rings: Gold plated open pyramid ring by Gorjana-Griffin via Rue La La, $26.  Check out Piperlime for this solid pyramid gold ring by Hive & Honey for $20. Gold band was my dad's wedding band. For a similar ring, the Gorjana-Griffin delaney wave ring is a gold band that is on sale for $38.50. Single gold twisted band is part of a trio of stackable rings by Gorjana-Griffin from Rue La La, $29.90. Bauble bar carries twist ring trio in lilac and mint at $28 a set (free shipping both ways!). Each set contains one gold band.

Bracelets: (1) Spike Cuff, Aqua from Bloomingdale's, $21 (Purchased this during the Friends and Family sale, reg. price $25); (2) orange and gold corded bracelet, $15. Purchased at an open market in Toronto last year. Check out this boutique on Etsy that makes corded bracelets; (3) String bracelet with rhinestones, J.Crew on clearance for $10 last winter. Take a look at Bauble Bar's selection of string bracelets starting at $24.

Nail Polish: Essie, Bouncer It's Me
