Kennebunkport, ME

Following Labor Day weekend, we packed up our car and headed to Kennebunkport, Maine. We spent the weekend with my sister and brother in-law and niece. On our first day there, we met our photographer (Allie.Photo) for a family photo shoot. My MIL had given both families a gift certificate a little while back and we took this opportunity to take advantage of it. Allie is amazing (and will travel)! We highly recommend her if you are ever in the market for a photographer.

Here’s one of my faves from that day :)

Based on a recommendation from a Boston blogger (Smartificial) of its good clam chowder, we ordered from Alisson’s Restaurant. I recall Dan ordering the petite lobster roll trio and it looked amazing (and he will vouch that it was delish).

The next morning, we all went for a nice stroll in search of coffee. We had noticed Mornings in Paris on our drive in the previous day, so that was where we headed. We grabbed our coffees to go and I couldn’t resist ordering a dozen macarons for later. They were very very yummy!

The REAL mission of that morning was finding Satellite Doughnuts (recommended by Emily Fanning another fellow blogger friend). Not only were they the most adorable looking mini doughnuts, they were equally as tasty. This was also Eleanor’s first time trying a doughnut and she loved it (but I mean, who wouldn’t love sugary dough?!).

For dinner, one of my really good friends who spends a lot of time in Kennebunkport with her family highly recommended Mabel’s Lobster Claw. This did require a short drive from where we were staying. The food here was excellent. I present to you The Duke ( a casserole of scallops, shrimp, haddock, lobster, baked in a garlic wine sauce). Eleanor was a big fan of the buttered steamed broccoli.

Taking advantage of Eleanor’s fantastic mood after dinner, we went back into town and popped into a few stores. Another Emily Fanning recommendation, we stopped in the cutest kid’s shop, Daytrip Society Jr. Not too far from this location is Daytrip …

Taking advantage of Eleanor’s fantastic mood after dinner, we went back into town and popped into a few stores. Another Emily Fanning recommendation, we stopped in the cutest kid’s shop, Daytrip Society Jr. Not too far from this location is Daytrip Society, the grown up version. Before heading home, I made sure to stop in the Copper Candle to pick out an ornament for our Christmas tree.

Ok, our REAL last stop was at The Candyman. We filled our bags with gummies and chocolates for an evening treat. Then it was back home to give E a bath and put her down for bed.

Our house had a fire pit in the backyard and we couldn’t pass up the chance to make s’mores (on top of all that candy we had previously purchased). I know, parents gone wild, right? I think we all retired to bed around 11-ish knowing we would be up …

This was too quick of a weekend but so great spending time with my sis and bro in-law and niece. It’s always so fun watching the two little cousins play with each other and I am sure there will be many more little family trips in our future. Kennebunkport was a real treat!
