Let’s back track 5 months to the summer when Dan and I decided to take Eleanor on a roadtrip to the Big Apple! I felt like I was overdue for a NYC visit and knew that this trip would be much different than previous visits. We saw the city differently, toting around an 8 month old and a teen (our babysitter!) who had never been to NYC before! The trip ranged from being super touristy (think Times Square) to eating at the newest restaurants (sans baby, of course). Instead of recounting every thing we did, I’ve pulled together the new spots we hit up!

We didn’t do too much exploring as we were trying to make it on time for our reservation (had to put E down before we headed out!). Everything we ordered was delicious. Pictured here are the sweet and sour spare ribs. We also started with the scallops and pickled brisket and mustard.

This was the main event: Steamed Whole Chicken. This was plenty for 4 adults and then some. Nothing used to prepare this meal goes to waste. The excess chicken was fried and came as a side to this meal (not pictured). If you ever go, I highly recomm…

Dan and I LOVE ramen. After watching an episode of Chef’s Table about Ivan Ramen, it was on our list to go here. I had actually gone on a previous trip and thus on this trip, it was a must for Dan. None of us left this meal disappointed.

Just a few doors down from Ivan Ramen was Boba Guys. What better way to polish off a ramen dinner than with a boba drink? I was unsure of what to get (they have a pretty extensive menu). When it was my turn to order, I literally pointed to a custome…

Just a few doors down from Ivan Ramen was Boba Guys. What better way to polish off a ramen dinner than with a boba drink? I was unsure of what to get (they have a pretty extensive menu). When it was my turn to order, I literally pointed to a customer holding a yummy looking drink and asked for the exact same thing. Turns out, it was their strawberry match latte, with boba, of course.

My NYC friend introduced me to Supermoon Bakehouse via IG. Of course I asked that this be added to my list. Their baked goods are beautiful and decadent. We picked up a few of the pastries for breakfast the next morning. I legit wanted everything.

By far, one of my fave cookie places in NYC has to be Levain. However, trekking through NYC with a stroller in and out of the subway was not ideal. Instead we tried one we hadn’t been to before, Schmackary’s. As you can see from this pic, they offer…

In a previous trip, my friend took me to the One World Observatory and I thought it was magnificent. I knew this would be right up Dan’s ally and a cool experience for my cousin’s daughter. It was a super hot day, so we welcomed being indoors for a little while. We popped into Oculus, as well. If you are ever looking for an indoor activity, I recommend this.

We had a wonderful weekend in NYC. Definitely different than what we were used to. I don’t know how NY-ers do it. We had to carry E in her stroller up and down the subway stairs - the elevators were not easy to locate. To top it off, it was blazing hot that entire weekend. E was a sport - she took her naps in the stroller while we were out and about. We were also very lucky to bring my cousin’s daughter along to watch E while we went out to dinner in the evenings with our friend (it was also her first time to NYC!). We booked a suite at the Andaz. E slept in a hotel provided crib in the room with us (she handles noise well, so we didn’t wake her up when we got home late at night) and my cousin’s daughter slept in the pullout in the living area and was able to hang out and watch TV while we were out. All in all, I would say we all had a successful trip!
